Considerations on the transport of refrigerated products

The proper treatment of each product during the process of harvesting in the field, transport to warehouse, pre-cooling, handling / packaging, conservation and distribution for marketing, has a very important role in the useful life and quality with which the product will reach its final destination.

For the loading of vegetable products inside the container it is important that climacteric products are never combined with non-climacteric products.

Climacteric products

Those that produce an increase in the rate of respiration and the biosynthesis of ethylene during the maturation process and therefore have a shorter life.

Product Consideration
  • Climacteric
  • Platano
  • Peach
  • Apricot
  • Plum
  • Apple
  • Pear
  • Kiwi
  • Avocado
  • Tomato
  • Fig
  • Custard apple
  • Mango
  • Non-climacteric products

Those that are independent of ethylene, have less respiration, and therefore have a longer life.

    Product Consideration
  • Non-climacteric
  • Leaf vegetables
  • Stem vegetables
  • Flower vegetables
  • Citrus fruits
  • Pineapple
  • Cherry
  • Grape
  • Strawberry
  • Cucumber
  • Raspberry
  • Lychee
  • Considerations when preparing the cargo

    • Required temperature of your godos
    • Required additional parameters, such as humidity and/or ventilation control
    • Required documentation, legal restrictions, and regulations
    • Volume and weight of godos
    • Suitable material for the packaging of the goods

Before and during loading always make sure that:

    • Goods have the right temperature and are in optimum condition for transport
    • The temperature, ventilation and humidity of the container have been correctly established.
    • Merchandise is stowed and securely fastened
    • The goods do not exceed the gross weight allowed by the container
    • The total gross weight of the container (including cargo and cold generator) does not exceed the limitations established by where the container is transported by road.
